5 Excellent place to watch the world go by. Great coffee, service, fab lunch.
5 I am an American student here for a study abroad program. Our server was warm, friendly, and inviting. He made the whole experience! The food was out of this world amazing! Vibe was perfect. Everything about this place is just perfect, from the food, to the service, to the ambiance. Highly recommend this hidden gem!
5 Tourist trap is a dirty word. It implies regret. This place—this small café tucked right next to the opera house—doesn’t quite earn that label. It flirts with it. Teases it. Then mostly gets away with it. Yes, the coffee is on the expensive side. Opera-adjacent pricing is a universal law, right up there with gravity and bad intermission wine. But this time I wasn’t here to nurse an espresso and judge passersby—I was here for lunch, and lunch, mercifully, delivered. We ordered lasagna and a croque madame—the one with the egg. Because croque monsieur is just a sandwich, and croque madame is a statement. Also, yes, because only women have eggs. Biology, French café logic, take your pick. The food came out quickly. Not “eventually,” not “we forgot but pretended we didn’t,” but promptly. Hot. Correct. The lasagna did what lasagna is supposed to do—comfort, fill, disappear without drama. The croque madame arrived crowned with a proper egg, yolk ready to break and make a mess in the best possible way. The real surprise, though, was the service. Polite. Genuinely so. Not rushed, not annoyed, not acting like your presence was an inconvenience to their entire life plan. In France, that alone deserves a small round of applause. Will you pay a little more than you might two streets away? Absolutely. But you’re paying for speed, location, and something even rarer: a pleasant interaction with another human being. I’ll be back. And I’ll do it willingly—wallet open, expectations managed, and perfectly content.
5 The most bougie hotdog I’ve ever seen. Looks, 11 out of 10. Taste, 8.5 of 10. Most definitely better items on the menu I should have tried but was craving for something heavily processed ;), and it did not disappoint.
5 This classic cafe is located on Place de la Comédie, next to the large oxidized head statue by sculptor Jaume Plensa. There is comfortable seating inside, but the outside seating provides much to see & was also very comfortable under the umbrellas! Our food was hot & delicious and was served quickly. This was important because we had a tour to meet up with (just around the corner at the tourist office). The bathrooms, located downstairs had character, were clean and were well guarded!
5 A leisurely Saturday evening meal here watching the world go by. I had the Tartare de Boeuf and it was very tasty, especially washed down nicely with a glass of Bordeaux Red and of course some water! Service was lovely. I was served by the lovely and very attentive, Maxence who made me feel at ease trying to make my order in French. I was very impressed with how observant he was too - I dropped my knife part way through the meal and within seconds he had replaced it with a new one. All the servers were jolly too. Excellent service. Thank you.
5 We spend most summers in Bordeaux and this is our favorite cafe to just sit, take a break, and people watch! The food is excellent, the wait staff is very kind, and you have a view of the stunning architecture of the square and everything going on. Highly recommend!
5 Stumbled across this awesome cafe! We have travelled all around Paris and France and this would have been by far the best Petit Dejeuner (omelette, croissant and coffee)! Great service and atmosphere
